From October 1, 2017, the Government of the State of Quintana Roo will introduce a new Environmental Tax for hotels in the Riviera Maya and Playa del Carmen in the amount of $20.00 (about 1 US dollar) per night per room.
This tax will be aimed at preserving the natural beauty of the region and transforming the Riviera Maya into an eco-efficient region.
Does not apply to hotels in Cancun and Puerto Morelos.
